DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A popular state trail is celebrating a quarter-century.
The Fox River State Trail marked its 25-year anniversary Thursday with a ceremonial ribbon cutting at the Voyageur Park Trailhead in De Pere.
The new Friends of the Fox River Trail logo was also unveiled.
Since its development in 2001, the Fox River State Trail has become one of the states most valued recreational assets, supporting recreation, tourism, and community health.
The 25-mile trail traces the Fox River from downtown Green Bay and into De Pere, then along a former rail corridor through Greenleaf, ending in Calumet County’s Hilbert.
Last year, portions of the trail were repaved.
