APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) — The city of Appleton is looking for it’s next Chief of Police.
Current Appleton Police Chief, Polly Olson, announced on May 5 that she will retire early next year after 26 years at the Appleton Police Department, with the last four as Chief.
Chief Olson will continue to serve until the Police & Fire Commission selects the next Chief of Police, with an anticipated retirement date of January 4, 2027.
In a post on Facebook, the department says “This is more than a leadership position. It is an opportunity to guide the future of one of Wisconsin’s most respected law enforcement agencies while serving a growing, engaged, and supportive community.”
The department says the Chief of Police will lead the department’s vision, strategy, operations, and people, while working closely with city leadership, community partners, and the men and women of the Appleton Police Department to continue building a professional organization focused on service, innovation, accountability, and community trust.
