(MILWAUKEE BREWERS) – The Milwaukee Brewers selected Corona High School (CA) infielder Trey Ebel with the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2026 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Vice President of Amateur Acquisition Tod Johnson.
Ebel, 17, is the brother of Brewers prospect Brady Ebel, who was selected No. 32 overall by Milwaukee in the 2025 First-Year Player Draft. He is the son of Los Angeles Dodgers third-base coach Dino Ebel.
Ebel batted .417/.496/.796 (45-for-108) with 10 doubles, 2 triples, 9 HR, 47 RBI, 37 runs in 31 games as a senior at Corona High School in 2026. He is committed to Texas A&M University.
The Brewers’ other first-day selections were Texas Christian University outfielder Sawyer Strosnider at No. 66 overall (second round), University of Florida outfielder Kyle Jones at No. 102 overall (third round) and St. John Bosco High School (CA) right-handed pitcher Julian Garcia at No. 130 overall (fourth round).
Strosnider batted .273 with 11 doubles, 4 triples, 13 home runs and 47 RBI for TCU. He also stole 12 bases in 2026. He was the 2025 Big 12 Freshman of the Year.
Baseball America ranked him as the No. 13 prospect while MLB Pipeline had him at No. 22.
Jones batted .317 with 16 doubles, a triple, 6 home runs, 46 RBI and 17 stolen bases for the Forida Gators.
Garcia went 9-1 with a 0.80 ERA, 107 strikeouts and 12 walks in 70 1/3 innings or St. John Bosco High School He was the 2026 Max Preps California Player of the Year.
