(WNFL) – Play 2. Lose 2.
That’s what the Milwaukee Brewers did on Saturday in dropping a pair of 1-run games, 7-6 and 3-2.
In the first game, Esmerlyn Valdez hit a grand slam off of Aaron Ashby to turn a 6-3 Brewers lead into a 7-6 deficit.
The Brewers had taken a 5-3 lead in the fifth inning on a Cooper Pratt RBI double and a 2-run home run by Sal Frelick.
William Contreras made it 6-3 in the seventh with a run-scoring single.
Brandon Sproat started for the Brewers and lasted just 3 innings. He allowed 3 runs on 2 hits and 2 walks and burned through 83 pitches.
Craig Yoho relieved and pitched a pair of scoreless innings.
In the second game, Brian Reynolds’ run-scoring single in the sixth inning made a loser of Brewers starting pitcher Shane Drohan.
Drohan allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 6 1/3 innings.
The Brewers got their 2 runs in the fifth inning on a 2-run double by Brice Turang.
The Brewers are now 59-36 and have a 6-game lead over the second-place Chicago Cubs.
Today’s series finale can be heard beginning at 10:40 on 97.5 and 1360 WTAQ.
Out: Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski will not make the start today for the Milwaukee Brewers due to arm fatigue.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that on Saturday with Robert Gasser being recalled from Nashville to replace him in the starting slot today.
This means Misiorowski will definitely not play in Tuesday’s MLB All-Star game in Philadelphia.
