APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Special guests from the North Pole will make an appearance during the largest nighttime parade in the Midwest.
The 55th Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade is set for Tuesday, Nov. 24. This year’s theme is Christmas Past, Present, and Future, featuring nearly two dozen bands.
The parade will begin at 7 p.m. and move east on College Avenue from State Street to Drew Street.
The Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade annually draws 80,000 spectators to Downtown Appleton.
This year’s parade marshal is Timothy M. Hanna, a lifelong Appleton resident and former Mayor (1996–2020). Hanna led with one belief: a community is bigger than its city limits. Hanna built partnerships with neighboring communities, businesses, and organizations that produced shared assets like the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center and Exhibition Center.
Spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to College Avenue; after the Santa Scamper, Lawrence University will collect cans, pasta, peanut butter and more for St. Joe’s Food Pantry before the parade officially begins. Note, the City of Appleton allows spectators to place chairs and blankets along the parade route any time after noon on Nov. 24, but only if they remain with their possessions.
