(WTAQ) — Green Bay City Council President Alyssa Proffitt announced Friday that she will seek election as the 43rd Mayor of Green Bay in the April 6 spring election.
Proffitt, who is serving her second term on the Green Bay City Council and currently serves as Council President, said her decision to run is rooted in years of service to her community and encouragement from neighbors across the city.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mayor Genrich throughout my time on the council, particularly in my role as Council President,” Proffitt said. “I’ve learned a great deal from his tenure and appreciate the direction he has helped set for our city. But there is still so much more we can accomplish to ensure Green Bay remains a vibrant city where working people and their families can thrive, small businesses can grow, and our economy continues to move forward. The outpouring of support and encouragement from neighbors has been incredibly humbling, and I’m grateful to everyone who has encouraged me to take this next step.”
Proffitt was born and raised in the Green Bay area and lives in the Joannes Park neighborhood with her husband and their two children.
“Green Bay is my home, and I care deeply about the people and neighborhoods that make this city such a special place,” Proffitt said. “I’m excited to bring my experience as a community member, council leader, and organizational leader to the role of Green Bay Mayor.”
