(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON — Wisconsin women’s soccer (10-4-3, 6-3-2 Big Ten) closed out its regular-season home schedule with a 2-1 victory over No. 12 Washington (11-2-4, 6-2-3 Big Ten) on Sunday afternoon at McClimon Soccer Complex.
How It Happened
Wisconsin wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, striking in the 17th minute. Collin found the back of the net for her first career goal, with Erin Connolly and Abby Ballek picking up assists to give the Badgers an early 1-0 advantage.
Washington answered in the 41st minute when Maylen Montoya scored her third goal of the season to even the match at 1-1.
Wisconsin responded almost immediately. Just 2:27 after Washington’s equalizer, Connolly put the Badgers back in front in the 43rd minute, connecting off assists from Jenna Baumann and Delaney Cox. The goal marked Connolly’s fifth of the season and sent Wisconsin into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
Second Half
The Badgers carried their advantage into the second half as Washington pushed for an equalizer. Wisconsin goalkeeper Drew Stover and the Badger defense held strong, limiting the Huskies to one shot on goal in the final 45 minutes.
Washington made one final push in the 88th minute, but Stover came up with a crucial save on Anna Menti’s attempt to preserve the one-goal advantage.
Wisconsin held on for the 2-1 victory, securing its third straight win and beating Washington for the first time since 2018.
