(WTAQ-WLUK) — People affected by the July 27 tornado in the Fox Valley can now apply for federal disaster assistance after President Donald Trump approved a major disaster declaration for Wisconsin.
FEMA says individuals and families in Outagamie and Winnebago counties may qualify for help after severe storms and tornadoes damaged homes and property. Forest and Vilas counties are also included in the federal disaster declaration.
Residents should first file a claim with their insurance company. Then, they can apply for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov, by calling 1-800-621-3362 or through the FEMA App. The deadline to apply is Dec. 7.
Assistance may include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-interest loans for uninsured property losses and other recovery programs.
The July 27 EF-3 tornado caused widespread damage in Menasha, Appleton, Fox Crossing and Neenah.
