(LEARFIELD) – The Philadelphia Phillies broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth Tuesday night to beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4 in Philadelphia.
A double by Brandon Marsh was the big blow.
Colton Gordon pitched five innings in relief and took the loss.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about Phillies pitcher Zach Wheeler who set a franchise record striking out the first seven batters of the game.
He also talked about new pitcher Colton Gordon.
And Murphy discussed the short outing by starter Dustin May.
Catcher William Contreras continued his hot hitting with three runs batted in.
With the Braves 4-0 loss to the Reds, the Brewers clinched a first round playoff bye and home field advantage in the divisional series.
Logan Henderson gets the start tonight in the second game of the series.
