(BIG EAST/LEARFIELD/UW ATHLETICS) – Six weekend matchups at Fiserv Forum for the Marquette men’s basketball team highlight the squad’s 2026-27 BIG EAST Conference schedule, announced by the league office on Monday morning.
Tip times and television information for all games will be announced in the coming weeks by the conference office, along with the confirmation of National Marquette Day.
The complete 18-game home slate features 10 weekend outings and eight matchups against NCAA tournament programs from 2025-26, including an exhibition against Michigan State on Sunday, Oct. 25 in advance of the campaign lidlifter versus Mercyhurst on Monday, Nov. 2.
The Golden Eagles will also host a student-only game at the Al McGuire Center on Friday, Nov. 6 against Detroit Mercy.
Badgers/Penn State game time set: The official game time for the Wisconsin-Penn State game has been set for 4:00 p-m Central Time.
That contest in Happy Valley, Pennsylvania, will be the first Big Ten Conference game for the Badgers.
The September 26th game will be homecoming for the Nittany Lions.
Wisconsin takes on Eastern Michigan Saturday first, but Penn State will be the first big test for coach Luke Fickell and his team since the opening game loss to Notre Dame.
Adewumi earns Big East soccer honors: Marquette freshman soccer player Tomiwa Adewumi has been named the Big East offensive and freshman of the week in soccer.
Adewumi recorded his first career hat trick in Marquette’s 3-2 victory over Southern Indiana, scoring all three goals over the final 22 minutes.
After re-entering the match with the Golden Eagles trailing 1-0, Adewumi scored the equalizer before striking again to level the match at 2-2 while Marquette was playing with 10 men. He completed the hat trick with the game-winning penalty kick in the 87th minute.
The hat trick was the first by a BIG EAST player this season and the first by a Golden Eagle since 2022. Adewumi’s eight goals lead the BIG EAST and are the most by a freshman nationally.
Hernandez gets Horizon League volleyball player of the week award: Green Bay Volleyball’s Alexa Hernandez has been named an Under Armour #HLVB Player of the Week. Hernandez was also named the Northwestern Invitational MVP. It is the first Player of the Week award in Hernandez’s career.
Hernandez was a key piece in leading Green Bay to a 3-0 weekend, with wins over LIU, Virginia Tech, and Northwestern. The win over Northwestern was GB’s first win over a Big Ten opponent since 2019.
The Green Bay, Wis., native averaged 45.0 assists per match, including 50 assists in the win over Northwestern on Sunday. Hernandez has now dished out 50+ assists two times this season.
The Phoenix opens its home slate this weekend against Western Illinois. The two teams will play at the Kress Center on Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
Phoenix’ Brozek earns Horizon League soccer award: Green Bay women’s soccer’s Bella Brozek has been named the Under Armour #HLWSOC Offensive Player of the Week. It is the first time Brozek has receive the honor, and second Player of the Week award for the Phoenix on the season.
Brozek was key in Green Bay’s 3-0 win over Chicago State last Thursday, contributing to two of the teams three goals. Brozek scored GB’s second goal of the game in the 37th minute before assisting on the team’s third goal in the 53rd minute.
The Phoenix is now 5-0-2 on the season. The team’s seven game unbeaten start is the best in program history.
The Phoenix opens the Horizon League slate on Saturday at new Horizon League member, Northern Illinois. The Phoenix and Huskies will kick off at NIU Soccer & Track and Field Complex at 1 p.m. CT.d
Up next for the Badgers: Wisconsin meets Eastern Michigan for the 5th time in program history and the first time since 2021. The Badgers hold a 4-0 advantage in the all-time series, with all four previous meetings taking place at Camp Randall Stadium. Wisconsin has outscored the Eagles 135-16 in the series, including a 34-7 victory in the most recent matchup on Sept. 11, 2021.
Linebacker Cooper Catalano leads the Big Ten with 22 tackles this fall. Catalano has posted 10+ tackles in 2 of his last 3 games. The last Badger to lead the Big Ten in tackles over an entire season was Mike Taylor (150) in 2011.
With running back Abu Sama III rushing for 107 yards in last week’s win, UW is now 9-0 under Luke Fickell when the Badgers have a 100-yard rusher. The last game UW lost with a 100-yard rusher was Oct. 15, 2022, at Michigan State.
A busy week for St. Norbert athletics: Conference play begins for several fall sports at St. Norbert College this week.
Highlights this week include men’s and women’s cross country at the national catholic championship, football opening Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference play at Eurkea College and women’s tennis hosting three matches.
