APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — One million dollars in financial assistance will be available to families affected by the July 27 tornado in the Fox Valley.
Representatives from United Way Fox Cities, community foundations in the Fox Cities and Oshkosh, and other area nonprofit organizations are announcing details on Monday. They will also be committing another $1 million to address future direct assistance needs.
Grants of $500,000 each will be provided to two organizations for distribution:
- LEAVEN will provide direct financial assistance to families for essential basic needs, including housing, transportation, child care and utilities.

- People of Progression will provide direct financial assistance for basic needs as well as one-on-one individual support for those who need help navigating recovery assistance.

- In-person walk-in help is available at 333 First Street, Ste. A, in Menasha. Hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; and on Thursdays by appointment.
Funds will be available starting Tuesday.
The money comes from the Community Response Fund. Leaders of the effort say these funds are not necessarily the last tornado assistance a household may receive.
