(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) – DES MOINES – The Green Bay men’s soccer team fell to the Drake Bulldogs Wednesday night by a final score of 2-0. The hosts scored a goal in each half to down the Phoenix in the nonconference matchup.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams battled for possession in the first half, with Drake taking the only shot of the half. Drake’s lone shot of the half resulted in a goal when Evan Carlson scored to put the Bulldogs up 1-0 in the 41st minute. Malachi Anya and Judah Shalit recorded assists through the buildup.
The Phoenix ratcheted up the pressure in the second half, launching seven shots toward the Drake goal. No Phoenix shot found the back of the net while Drake’s second and final shot of the game also resulted in a goal when Jackson Kirsch doubled the Bulldogs’ lead in the 62nd minute.
GAME NOTES
- Green Bay received two yellow cards, while Drake received two of their own along with a red card in the 81st minute to Crew Alvarez that forced the hosts to play a man down for the final ten minutes.
- Green Bay outshot Drake 7-2.
- No saves were recorded on either side Wednesday night.
- Drake scored on both of their shots in the game.
