GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Another setback for Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary.
Owner Elizabeth Feldhousen posted today saying in part, “we will likely be homeless again Oct 30.” She claims the city says they can not extend their temporary use permit at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church unless they have a place lined up to go, which has been difficult due to city zoning laws.
This comes after major storms in June caused a roof collapse at their downtown building, forcing them to temporarily locate.
Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary was also in the spotlight during a cold snap in January, when they invited unhoused individuals to spend the night in the shelter and eventually opened up Safe Haven Hope Center, a supervised transitional homeless shelter located in downtown Green Bay.
A GoFundMe page is set up to help with expenses related to the storm and relocation.
