WASHINGTON – On “Afternoons Live” North Dakota Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak said Congress has a role regarding data centers.
The Rate Payers Protection Act recently unanimously passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee. It requires data centers TO pay their way to connect to the electric grid and to not increase costs to ratepayers.
“Largely this is a local issue and a state issue, but as a federal representative for North Dakota, I want to be part of the conversation on national policy, too, because it has national security implications,” Fedorchak explained.
Fedorchak recently met with city and county leaders and legislators in Watford City speaking about data centers encouraging them not to sign non-disclosure agreements.
“That just causes suspicion with the general public. There’s nothing to hide on these conversations. People deserve answers about what the impact these projects may have on their community,” Fedorchak said.
Fedorchak said she believes the Iran war needs to end.
“I appreciate President Trump’s efforts to try and bring this to a peaceful end through negotiations and diplomacy, but they aren’t responding to that. I support doing what needs to be done to bring this to an end as quickly as possible,” Fedorchak said.
Fedorchak added she has supported the war saying it was important for President Donald Trump to make sure Iran doesn’t have a nuclear weapon.
