OSHKOSH (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Oshkosh man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of Walter Brooks at a city park last July. Daunte Riley, who previously pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide, was also ordered to serve 15 years of extended supervision.
Investigators say the stabbing followed a confrontation between two groups that began at a park pavilion and later continued after the parties met again in separate vehicles. While some witnesses claimed Brooks had a gun, investigators found no firearm or evidence that one was present.
Authorities say Brooks died from a single stab wound to the heart.
