(WNFL) – The runners are visible throughout northeast Wisconsin.
Cross country runners running in groups or by themselves have been continuing to get ready for the start of their season in August.
Let’s take a look back to the 2025 girls state cross country meet at The Ridges Golf Course in Wisconsin Rapids.
Division 1
Top 5 girls teams: Neenah 71, Slinger 84, Bloomer 179, Menomonie 197, Whitefish Bay 212
Individual winner: Lauren McCalla, Menomonie 17:26.4
Division 2
Top 5 girls teams: Mount Horeb 90, McFarland 112, Monroe 128, Kettle Moraine Lutheran 138, Notre Dame 173
Individual winner: EmmersonDroback, Deerfield/Cambridge 18:01.4
Division 3
Top 5 girls teams: Darlington 92, Kohler 96, Aquinas 122, Cochrane-Fountain Ciy 133, Fennnimore 147
Individual winner: Maggie Behler, Kohler18:22.5
Looking ahead to 2026
Division 1: Neenah returns 5 of their top 5 runners. Bloomer returns 6 of their top 7 runners. Whitefish Bay returns 6 of its top 7 runners.
The top returning individual runner is Karstin McCabe of Whitefish Bay who finished third. Sam Zilm of Neenah finished fourth with Appleton North’s Eva Busch taking fifth. Isabelle Decabooter of Verona, Aliya Hartman of Bloomer and Abby Kurth of Slinger are the other returning top 10 finishers.
Division 2: Mount Horeb returns its top 6 runners while runner-up McFarland returns 5 of its top 7 runners. Monroe, Kettle Moraine Lutheran and Notre Dame return 4, 6 and 5 of their top 7 runners, respectively.
Eight of last year’s top 10 finishers return. They include Maddie Driscoll of Lancaster, Abbie Hoage of Altoona, Willa Vigliotta of Mount Horeb, Macie Boe of Amery, Kyra Dix of Prescott, Sofie Beadle of Kettle Moraine Lutheran , Mia Caygill of Mount Horeb and Sophie Navarro of Northwestern.
Division 3: Defending champion Darlington will return 5 of their top 7 runners as does second-place finishing Kohler. Aquinas will bring back 4 of their top 7 runners while Cochrane-Fountain City and Fennimore will both bring back 5 of their top 7 runners.
Six of the top 10 finishers return including defending champion Maggie Behler of Kohler. She won the Division 3 race by a comfortable 13+ seconds over second-place Addy Duellman of Cochrane-Fountain City. Besides Behler, other returning top 10 finishers include Mackenzie Knuckey of Southwestern. Delaney Rennhack of Dodgeland, Jaycie Oberele of Boyceville Lilian Pociask of Kohler and Paxtyn Duellman of Cochrane-Fountain City.s
