MANITOWOC, WI (WLUK) — Katrina Baur has a new attorney, and it’s not the one she asked for.
Baur, the mother of Elijah Vue, faces four charges in connection with the treatment, disappearance, and subsequent death of the 3-year-old boy.
Her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, is charged with physical abuse of a child – causing death and hiding a corpse. A two-and-half-week trial for both is scheduled to begin April 14, 2027.
Baur recently wrote to the court, asking for a new attorney. She suggested two lawyers who had she been in contact with take the case.
At a hearing earlier this week, Judge Anthony Lambrecht approved Baur’s attorney leaving the case, and directed the state Public Defender’s Office to appoint her a new attorney.
