(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – Marquette University volleyball head coach Tom Mendoza has announced the addition of transfer Berrak Sporeli to the Golden Eagles roster. A native of Istanbul, Turkey, Sporeli joins Marquette after a successful prep and club career, bringing international experience and a competitive background to the program.
“We are excited to add a player of Berrak’s ability and character into the group. It’s clear how driven she is to be great and help the team be successful,” Mendoza said of the signing of Sporeli.
Sporeli attended Sancaktepe Okyanus High School in Istanbul, where she helped guide her team to a second-place finish at the 2023 Istanbul Championship and a runner-up finish at the 2024 Turkish Championship. At the club level, Sporeli competed for Fenerbahce Sports Club under coach Mert Ayhan Arin, one of Turkey’s premier volleyball organizations. She helped her squad to a third-place finish at the 2023 Istanbul Championship and a runner-up finish in 2026.
Born July 6, 2007, Sporeli is the daughter of Oznur and Sevil Sporeli and has one sibling, Berk. She plans to major in business at Marquette. Sporeli will join the Golden Eagles for the upcoming 2026 season as a freshman.
