ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Josh Jacobs is practicing with the Green Bay Packers Tuesday following his release from jail last week.
Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday following a disturbance at his Hobart home the previous weekend. Police recommended charges including strangulation and suffocation and domestic battery.
However, he was released from jail Wednesday. Brown County District Attorney David Lasee said in a news release his office was seeking more investigation before deciding whether formal criminal charges were warranted.
“(T)here is reason to believe that additional evidence may exist that would impact whether criminal charges are appropriate, and what charges would be issued,” Lasee said.
Jacobs’ attorneys said in a statement Tuesday:
We are extremely pleased that Josh has been released from custody and that no criminal charges have been filed against him. As we previously stated, we encourage everyone to keep an open mind while the matter is fully reviewed. We remain confident that, once all of the evidence is gathered and evaluated, it will confirm that no charges should be brought against Josh in the future.
According to Matt Schneidman of The Tundra podcast, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Jacobs’ presence has not been a distraction, and that it has been “business as usual.”
Meanwhile, LaFleur also said that edge rusher Micah Parsons was in the team’s building this week and “looks pretty good” as he rehabs from a torn ACL.
LaFleur also said that Bo Melton would remain at wide receiver.
