(LEARFIELD) – The Brewers put 16 runs on the scoreboard Monday night in another game without a home run.
Milwaukee scored seven times in the second inning on the way to a 16-2 rout of the San Francisco Giants at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about the 7-run second inning.
Jackson Chourio drove in three runs, and Christian Yelich and David Hamilton each had three hits.
Chad Patrick got the win in relief of starting pitcher Shane Drohan.
Drohan pitched the first 4 innings and allowed 2 runs on 4 hits. Patrick pitched the fifth inning. He was followed by DL Hall (2 innings), Grant Anderson and Jake Woodford.
Murphy talked about the job the Brewers did in holding the Giants to 2 runs.
Landen Roupp started for the Giants and was charged with the loss. He allowed 8 runs over 4 innings.
With the win, the Brewers increased their lead in the National League Central Division to 5 1/2 games over the Chicago Cubs, Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals.
Brewers shortstop David Hamilton talked about padding the division lead.
Kyle Harrison is scheduled to start the second game of the series tonight.
Trevor McDonald will start for San Francisco. He is 2-2 with a 4.34 ERA.
