(UW ATHLETICS) LINCOLN, NEB – Junior Matan Ivri led a trio of Badgers to top-eight finishes in the 5000 meters to highlight action for the Wisconsin men’s track and field team on Sunday at the 2026 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competition took place at the Nebraska Track Stadium.
Ivri crossed the line in 14:09.04 to place third in the 12 ½-lap race, narrowly missing out on a Big Ten title. Oregon’s Tayson Echohawk won in 14:08.84 while Washington’s Reuben Reina was .05 ahead of Ivri in 14:08.99.
Archie Noakes was close behind Ivri in fourth place with a 14:10.85, while Christian de Vaal was sixth in 14:12.43. Two days after finishing sixth in the 10,000 meters, Johnny Livingstone was 17th in the 5000 meters in 14:34.92
In the pole vault, Nathan Nelson earned a 10th-place finish, clearing 16 feet, 7 ½ inches (5.07m), while Augustus Counard-Ciechanowski was 15th with a mark of 16-1 ¾ (4.82m).
Kyle Clabough finished 17th in the shot put with a mark of 55-7 (16.94m).
The UW men’s 4×400 relay team of Patrick Hilby, Henry Risser, Liam Newhart and Darius Jones II placed 12th in 3:17.59.
As a team, Wisconsin took 14th with 17 points. Oregon won the team title with 121 points.
UP NEXT: The Badgers continue postseason action later this month with the NCAA West First Round in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The UW men will compete on Wednesday, May 27 and Friday, May 29, while the UW women will compete on Thursday, May 28 and Saturday, May 30.
