GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The impact of heavy snow, rain and flooding has reached the Port of Green Bay.
Port officials say high water flow on the Fox River will prevent it from being open until at least May 15.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told Brown County officials that it has opened the dam gates to allow water to move out of Lake Winnebago, creating abnormally fast water flows on the Fox River.
Water is moving through the river and into Green Bay after flooding in places such as New London and Shiocton.
“This situation could not occur at a worse time, as stockpiles of goods are typically low in the spring and require replenishing,” post officials said in a news release.
