MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Menasha Joint School District superintendent is taking a different position in the Fox Valley.
Superintendent Matthew Zimmerman notified the Board of Education Monday that the accepted a district-wide administrative position within the Appleton Area School District.
He wrote in a statement released Tuesday:
I truly appreciate my time as Superintendent in Menasha. We have a fantastic Board of Education, incredibly caring adults who work with kids, and a community that is so proud and supportive of public education. I am proud of the work that has occurred in the past three years including the development of a measurable strategic plan, the construction and opening of one of the largest net zero energy schools in the country (Maplewood), and most recently a successful operational referendum that has stabilized our district finances for the next six years. I am also proud of our work to bring the University Children’s Center under the MJSD umbrella, ensuring that their Five Star Rated childcare services can continue to support families in the Fox Valley. I am most proud of all the caring, committed people throughout our system who do amazing things on behalf of students each and every day. I am certain that work will continue under the leadership of the next superintendent. Thank you for your trust and support over the past three years. I have learned so much from so many of you and will always be thankful for the opportunity to lead in the Menasha Joint School District!
Zimmerman was hired as Menasha’s superintendent in July of 2023. Prior to that, he was the Appleton Area School District’s assistant superintendent.
Zimmerman will leave his Menasha school district position on June 30, 2026.
