OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A high school student was seriously injured after they were hit by a tow truck while crossing an Oshkosh street.
It happened around 7:54 a.m. Wednesday on W. Murdock Avenue and Vinland Street.
Police say an officer witnessed a tow truck turning east on Murdock Avenue from Vinland Street and a pedestrian crossing the street on Murdock Avenue.
The pedestrian, identified as a high school student, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Murdock and Vinland Street is closed while investigators are on scene. Drivers are asked to avoid this area and use alternative routes.
Police want to remind drivers to use extra caution during school arrival and dismissal times. Drivers should slow down, eliminate distractions, obey posted school- zone speeds, and yield to crossing guards and pedestrians at crosswalks.
