SHIOCTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Upgrades are coming to the Shiocton School District.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday to mark the beginning of improvements for facilities district-wide. The improvements fall within four main areas: safety and security, infrastructure, career and technical education and facility access.
“Our facilities should match the excellence of the teaching and learning that happens inside them. With these updates, we are ensuring that our students are prepared for tomorrow’s challenges in an environment designed for 21st-century learning,” said Superintendent Garrett Zimmerman.
The project was made possible by a $23.5 million referendum approved by voters in April. Items include:
- New secured offices for the elementary and high schools
- Tech Ed Center renovation and addition
- Fine Arts wing addition
- Remodeled middle and high school locker rooms
- Infrastructure updates, replacements and site improvements
Construction is expected to wrap up before the 2027-28 school year. Officials say most interior work is planned for the summers of 2026 and 2027 in an effort to minimize disruption to students and staff.
“We are grateful for the trust our community has placed in us with this investment. We are committed to being careful stewards of these funds and making sure every dollar is spent to benefit students,” Zimmerman said.
