FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Juan Carlos Rocha-Mejia, 32, pleaded no contest to a charge of first-degree sexual assault of a child.
Prosecutors say Rocha-Mejia paid the girl’s mother, Elia Antonio, $250 for sexual access to the girl. Rocha-Mejia then assaulted the girl in the back of a van in Oakfield. The girl, according to authorities, fought off her attacker, who had bound and blindfolded her, biting him before running away to a nearby home, where a good Samaritan called 911.
Antonio pleaded guilty to four counts in the case last week. She is due to be sentenced Aug. 21.
Rocha-Mejia’s sentencing is set for the same date. He faces up to 40 years in prison.
Investigation revealed both Rocha-Mejia and Antonio are in the United States illegally, prosecutors say.
