GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Michael Winfree was sentenced to nine years in prison for taking video of a nude child in a YMCA locker room.
Winfree, 50, was previously convicted of seven counts, including possession of child pornography, and capturing an intimate representation of a child.
He was also placed on extended supervision for nine years at Monday’s hearing by Judge John Zakowski, court records show.
According to the criminal complaint, investigators found a video slightly more than two minutes in length, recorded in the family locker room of the Howard facility in 2023.
Winfree set up a camera to record between the stalls, where the dividers do not reach the floor. A 7-year-old boy enters the stall, changes from street clothes into a swimming suit, with the video capturing nude images of the child, the complaint states.
After the recording was discovered, the YMCA and police conducted a search of the property to ensure there were no other recording devices. None were found.
