The Milwaukee Brewers won their first three games of the season on the road, captured 12 of their first 14 away from American Family Field. Then came a trip to Chicago against their rival Cubs and a series against a much improved Royals team in Kansas City. The Royals beat the Brewers 6-4 Wednesday afternoon at Kauffman Stadium to take the series and finish a 2-4 trip for the Crew. Back to back doubles by Brice Turang and William Contreras gave the Brewers a quick 1-0 lead in the first but Kansas City answered with a pair of doubles and two sacrifice flies against Joe Ross for a 2-1 lead. Ross wouldn’t give up another hit until the fifth, giving up three runs on his outing. Gary Sanchez closed the gap to 3-2 with a homer in the 7th. Kansas City stretched it out by scoring three times in the 8th on five hits and a walk endured by Joel Payamps in just one third of an inning. Bobby Witt Jr. hit a home run and two RBI singles followed for a 6-2 advantage. Turang capped a 3/4 day with an RBI double in the 9th and Conteras brought home the 4th run on a groundout. Christian Yelich, back in the lineup for the first time in nearly three weeks, grounded out to end his 0 for 5 day and the game. The Brewers return home 21-15 and return to NL Central play with a homestand beginning with a 4 game series against the St. Louis Cardinals Thursday night.
