As of April 26, 2024, sturgeon are starting to stage again on the Lower Fox and Peshtigo rivers. It’s likely that they will start spawning there over the weekend.
Princeton Dam, Upper Fox River: Spawning activity has stopped, and sturgeon can no longer be seen below the dam. Sturgeon Trail, New London, Wolf River: Spawning activity has stopped, and sturgeon can no longer be seen. Bamboo Bend, Shiocton, Wolf River: Spawning activity has stopped, and sturgeon can no longer be seen. Shawano Dam, Wolf River: Spawning activity has stopped, and sturgeon can no longer be seen. De Pere Dam, Lower Fox River: The number of sturgeon below the De Pere Dam continues to increase. While no spawning has been observed yet, sturgeon could start spawning any day now. Peshtigo Dam, Peshtigo River: Sturgeon continue to be present at the viewing platform and are expected to be visible throughout the weekend. Spawning activity may start again this weekend with warmer temperatures. |
Sturgeon patterns can change rapidly. Though they may be at one location in the morning, they may not be that evening. As a result, if you’d like to see them at a certain location, make sure you get out and see them soon.
Updates will be made on our sturgeon spawning webpage as changes occur. Stay informed: https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/
