The first bit of adversity has hit the Milwaukee Brewers this season. After a hot start, Milwaukee has now dropped three straight games as the San Diego Padres beat the Brewers again Tuesday night 6-3 at American Family Field. It was a painful first inning, literally, for starter Wade Miley as San Diego struck for four runs in their opening at bat. The big blow was a three run homer from Ha-Seong Kim. The painful play happened earlier when Manny Machado hit a line drive that bounced off the kneecap of Miley. He sucked it up to get through three innings and x-rays later found no damage beyond a bad bruise. William Contreras drove in a couple of runs and Jake Bauer added an RBI single for the Crew. Sal Frelick went 3 for 4 but the Brewers managed only six hits on the night. San Diego starter Dylan Cease allowed only two of them, giving up a run while striking out 7 in six innings to earn the win. Milwaukee falls to 10-6 on the season and will try to salvage the short homestand finale Wednesday afternoon. Pre-game coverage begins at 11:35 AM with a 12:10 PM first pitch on WNFL.
The Brewers placed Christian Yelich on the 10 day injured list before the game as he continues to deal with a low back strain. Owen Miller was called up from Triple A Nashville.
