Meanwhile, number three Illinois edged second-seeded Iowa State 72-69, while top-overall seed UConn took care of business against San Diego State 82-52. The Sweet 16 continues from Dallas and Detroit on Friday. NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Sweet 16 begins Friday: The NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament resumes with four Sweet 16 matchups on Friday. In the Albany 1 Region, three seed Oregon State and two seed Notre Dame begin Friday’s slate. The winner of the game takes on the winner of the second matchup of the day, four seed Indiana and undefeated top seed South Carolina, in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Portland 4 Region features two more chalk matchups. One seed Texas takes on four seed Gonzaga. The winner of Longhorns versus Bulldogs will play the winner of two seed Stanford and three seed NC State in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Saturday’s Sweet 16 action will include Caitlin Clark and Iowa, defending champion LSU, freshman phenom JuJu Watkins and USC and perennial power UConn.
