DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — February is American Heart Month; and officials with the American Heart Association are pushing extra hard this year to get more people trained in CPR.
JoDee DeCleene of De Pere shared her story of survival; it begins in January of 2015 when she went into cardiac arrest during the Packer playoff game against the Seahawks.
“My husband, Kevin, and our daughter, Lindsay, were there also. Kevin started CPR but was ineffective. Lindsay took over with the help of the 911 operator and did CPR for 7 minutes until the paramedics arrived,” said DeCleene
DeCleene says she was shocked twice and transported to the hospital. Her heart began getting weaker over the next couple of years, and she eventually received a heart transplant in August of 2017 at UW Madison.
“Please learn CPR, it’s critical,” said DeCleene. “It really can save a life, and I’m living proof of that.”
