Basketball Power 5
Last week we kidded about the Power 5 poll being a basketball version of King of the Hill.
Coleman had ascended to the top position with their 16-0 record. And then they lost.
So who’s on top now in the second to last week of the boys’ basketball regular season?
Let’s look to the top of the basketball mountain.
1
Sheboygan Lutheran
Overall: () Conference: ()
With a 19-1 record and plenty of scoring punch that has seen this team top 100 points in a game, Sheboygan Lutheran is now in the top spot. The two games are left on the schedule are against St. Mary Catholic and Reedsville.
2
Seymour
Overall: () Conference: ()
The Thunder are sitting at 16-1 overall with a two-game lead over New London and Xavier in the Bay Conference with three games to go. Take the Bay Conference trophy to the engravers, please.
3
Wrightstown
Overall: () Conference: ()
The Tigers are 18-1 overall and 14-1 in the North Eastern Conference with games remaining against Fox Valley Lutheran, Luxemburg-Casco and Little Chute. Wrightstown has a one-game lead over second-place Freedom.
4
Kimberly
Overall: () Conference: ()
The Papermakers are 17-2 overall and 15-0 in the Fox Valley Association. The Papermakers host Neenah tonight and that will either clinch a share of the conference title or create a tie with two games left. A full house tonight at Kimberly? Oh, yes. Standing room only? Probably.
5
Neenah
Overall: () Conference: ()
The Rockets are 16-2 overall and 13-2 in the Fox Valley Association. One of the fun things about typing in box scores for Neenah is that number of players that coach Lee Rabas works into and out of games. Yes, Max Klesmit plays a lot of minutes but there is enough depth to go around and keep legs fresh.

Games to Check Out
It’s the final week of the regular season for girls basketball.
Congratulations to those who’ve earned No. 1 seeds in the upcoming WIAA girls basketball tournament which gets underway Tuesday.
Those include Bay Port, Notre Dame, Hortonville, Wrightstown, Valders, Bonduel, Howards Grove and Oneida Nation.
By the way, if you haven’t looked at the brackets, if everything plays out to form, Notre Dame will meet Division 2 powerhouse Beaver Dam in a sectional final.
OH MY GOODNESS!
Now on to this week’s Power 5.

The Polar Bears should complete an unbeaten conference season on Thursday at Oshkosh North. The Polar Bears who are 20-1 overall and 17-0 in the Fox Valley Association have steam-rolled their opponents since a season-opening loss to Bay Port. Since then every victory has been by double digits.
2

The Tigers (19-2 overall, 16-1 North Eastern Conference) are an explosive team that can put up a lot of points. The Tigers face a resurgent Clintonville team in the season finale on Thursday.

The Irish have marched lockstep with Wrightstown this season and have also compiled a 19-2 overall and 16-1 North Eastern Conference record. Freedom closes out its regular season on Thursday against Little Chute.
