(LEARFIELD) – A pair of batted balls that didn’t travel 50 feet started a game-winning rally for the Brewers Wednesday night.
When the bottom of the eighth inning was finished, Milwaukee had a pair of runs that would snap a six-game losing streak, and Toronto was on the losing end of a 2-1 score at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
David Hamilton led off the eighth for the Brewers with an infield single, Sal Frelick bounced one in front of home plate for another single and William Contreras followed with a single to tie the game. Bryce Turang then hit a single that bounced over pitcher Tyler Rogers’ head to push across the winning run.
Then, Abner Uribe came on and slammed the door on the Blue Jays – a welcome change from recent bullpen failures.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy talked about ending the losing streak.
And the job done by Aaron Ashby and Uribe out of the bullpen.
Chad Patrick started for the Brewers and went 6 2/3 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 2.
Murphy discussed the job Patrick did as well.
Patrick talked about going 6 2/3 innings.
Ashby got the win for the Brewers after pitching a scoreless eighth inning.
The Brewers try to take the series this afternoon behind rookie Brandon Sproat.
The game can be heard beginning at 12:05 this afternoon on 99.7 and 101.9 WNFL.
