(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Chicago White Sox 6-1 Saturday night at American Family Field in Milwaukee and will go for the series sweep Sunday afternoon.
The Brewers went up 3-0 in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Christian Yelich and then a 2-run single by Garrett Mitchell.
Yelich drove in the Brewers’ fourth run with a soft single in the second inning.
The White Sox got on the board in the fourth inning on a home run by Munetaka Murakami.
The Brewers got their final 2 runs on run-scoring singles by Brandon Lockridge and Joey Ortiz in the sixth and seventh innings.
Chad Patrick pitched the first 4 1/3 innings for the Brewers, allowing 1 run on 5 hits and a walk while striking out 4.
Aaron Ashby pitched the next 1 2/3 innings to get the win. He walked 2 and struck out 4.
Angel Zerpa, Abner Uribe and DL Hall each pitched a scoreless inning to close out the game.
Sean Burke started and went 4 innings for the White Sox, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits and taking the loss.

Odds and ends: The Brewers are seeking to start a season 3-0 or better for the 10th time in franchise history and for the first
time since going 4-0 to start 2024.

history…..their last sweep came from 5/31-6/2, 2024 in Milwaukee (3g)…..the team has swept Chicago six times at home and four times on the road.
A Note on Sproat: Brandon Sproat will be making his Brewers debut this afternoon in search of is first Major League win…..Sproat made his big league debut last season with the Mets and went 0-2 with a 4.79 ERA in 4 starts after he was promoted in September.
