(ST. NORBERT COMMUNICATIONS) DE PERE – St. Norbert College’s season concluded in a 65-59 loss to Aurora University in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Tournament semifinal game at Mulva Family Fitness and Sports Center.
The Green Knights, who finishes the season with a 20-7 record, battled closely with the Spartans the entire game. The St. Norbert lead was only snatched away with two-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second half.
The Green Knights held a 24-18 lead near the end of the first half after a Jaeden Grade trey, with the Spartans having come within one possession of the lead for most of the half. Five points from Charlie Geske made it a 31-25 game with two minutes to go while a Freiburger basket with 48 seconds left gave the Green Knights a 33-27 halftime lead.
A jumper from Will Stuckey gave St. Norbert it’s largest lead of the game with a 45-35 lead, but it was to be short lived as the Spartans ferociously fought back and eventually tied the game at 58-58 with 2:36 to go. Aurora took firm control with a basket with 39 seconds reamining to steal a late victory.
St. Norbert shot 39.1 percent from the floor. Ryan Cox led the Green Knights with 12 points while Connor Pytleski had 10. Geske added nine points off the bench.
Aurora shot 42.9 percent from the floor. Cullen Rauls led the Spartans with 17 points.
