(LEARFIELD) PONTIAC, MICH – Fourth downs belonged to the Packers as they completed a season sweep of the Detroit Lions 31-24.
Packers coach Matt LaFleur said that it was a great win.
Packers quarterback Jordan Love talked about the win.
Packers defensive end Micah Parsons said that it was a huge win.
Lions coach Dan Campbell has built a reputation of “going for it” on fourth down plays, but it was Green Bay doing that kind of damage Thursday.
Love completed two of his four touchdown passes on fourth downs.
And, his fourth-down completion to Dontayvion Wicks in the closing minutes clinched the victory.
LaFleur said that he can’t say enough things about Wicks.
Love talked about how Wicks has gone from a player who struggled with dropped balls last season to being sure-handed this season.
LaFleur talked about the sequence that led up to Wicks game-clinching catch.
Wicks talked about how the play worked.
Detroit also failed to make it on a pair of fourth-down plays.
Parsons had two-and-a-half sacks as the Packers won a third straight game.
LaFleur was asked if the team made a statement with this win.
They host the Bears next week.
