The Marquette University women’s soccer team (4-3-2, 0-0-2 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST Conference play with a 1-1 draw at Creighton (4-5-2, 1-1-1 BIG EAST) on Saturday afternoon in Omaha Neb.
The Golden Eagles opened the scoring at the 22:52 mark, when forward Jocelyn Leigh worked free down the left side of the box and snuck a shot from 13 yards out just inside the near post. The score was Leigh’s fifth of the season, which leads the team.
Marquette maintained consistent possession the remainder of the half, but Creighton evened the score at 1-1 at the 33:31 mark after a penalty kick was awarded following a handball in the box on a Bluejay corner kick.
MU’s offensive attack managed just a pair of shots on goal for the match and netminder Hailey Wade finished with seven saves, including a pair of acrobatic stops that were ticketed for the back of the net.
