UK watchdog investigates Global Payments’ $24 billion purchase of Worldpay

(Reuters) -Britain’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) on Tuesday launched a merger inquiry into Global Payments’ $24.25 billion acquisition of Worldpay assessing whether the deal could potentially lessen competition in UK markets.

The CMA has set a deadline of November 11 to reach its Phase 1 decision.
