(MARQUETTE COMMUNICATIONS) – The Marquette women’s volleyball team put together a dominant all-around performance Sunday night, sweeping Milwaukee 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19). The Golden Eagles (5-2) were powered by Natalie Ring, who paced the offense with 17 kills on efficient swings. She was joined by Elena Radeff and Hattie Bray, who combined for 13 kills, giving MU steady production across the front row. Freshman setter Isabela Haggard directed the attacks with 31 assists, while Adriana Studer anchored the backcourt defense with 15 digs to go along with a match-high three service aces.
In the first set, Marquette came out strong behind the swing of Ring, who tallied early kills to set the tone. The Blue and Gold built separation midway through the frame with a 6-1 run fueled by steady serving and defense. Milwaukee struggled to answer the Golden Eagles and MU closed the set on a kill by Ella Holmstrom.
Set two the Panthers responded with more energy, taking advantage of Natalie Schmitz’s hitting to keep it close early. Milwaukee cut the deficit to four late, but the Golden Eagles held firm as Sienna Ifill put down the final kill to give MU a 2-0 match lead.
Milwaukee once again was able to get within striking distance, trailing just 23-18 down the stretch. However, the Golden Eagles sealed the sweep with a kill from Bray, completing a strong home win before facing Wisconsin on Wednesday.
