GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — If you want to watch the Packers take on the Lions at home Sunday, and you still haven’t gotten your ticket — you’re probably going to have to spend over $200.
Is that higher than normal?
“I would say it’s about right. Maybe a little higher than normal, just because this is the first opener that we’ve actually had that was a home opener in the last five years,” said Travis Loftus, manager at Ticket King.
But it’s more than that.
“It’s against a divisional opponent, and then the Lions, they’re obviously Super Bowl contenders as well, so it is a little uptick compared to what regular home openers have been recently,” said Loftus.
It’s the first home opener in Week 1 since the Packers hosted the Bears to start the 2018 season.
Did the massive trade for Micah Parsons have an impact on ticket sales?
“I mean, the first 48 hours, we saw a nice little shot in the arm with ticket sales,” said Loftus.
Aida Rizvic with VividSeats released the following statement:
According to our data insights, the matchup is trending as the second most in-demand NFL game of the week, with an average ticket price of $566 and a get-in price of $310.
Fans are traveling an average of 563 miles to Lambeau Field, the fourth farthest among all games this weekend, reflecting just how far Packers fans are willing to go.
What do fans have to say?
“A lot more expensive than we were looking to spend. A lot more money than we were looking to spend. I think when we were looking, it was about $300,” said Jerry Grant, a Packers fan.
“I’m fortunate to have a friend that has access to tickets and he sells them to me at face value. But they’re high, like everything else is right now,” said Mike Gowin, another fan.
Although tickets to this weekend’s game are pretty expensive, Packers fans might have an opportunity to get more reasonably priced tickets and to see the team under the lights.
“Thursday night games are always a little bit softer. That’s why that Washington game next Thursday, even though it’s a great opponent, it’s a little bit softer because it’s Thursday night and people have to take off two days of work to go to a game,” said Loftus.
It’s an opportunity for fans to watch the Packers take on a team that was just one win away from the Super Bowl this past season.
