(LEARFIELD) – Milwaukee’s Freddy Peralta extended his scoreless innings streak to 29, three shy of the team record Teddy Higuera set in 1987, but it wasn’t enough as the Brewers fell to the Philadelphia Phillies 2-0 Thursday afternoon at American Family Field in Milwaukee.
Peralta struck out eight and allowed three walks and two hits while throwing 92 pitches over five innings.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that Peralta gave them the chance to win.
Brewers catcher Danny Jansen talked about Peralta’s outing.
Murphy said that his club just couldn’t come up with the key hit.
The Brewers had two runners on with nobody out in the fourth and sixth innings, but Phillies starter Ranger Suarez worked his way out of both jams.
Milwaukee was 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
The Brewers open a three-game series at Pittsburgh Friday with the game being broadcast on 1360 and 97.5 WTAQ.
