(LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ long winning streak finally ended in a back-and-forth game at Cincinnati Sunday with a 3-2 loss to the Reds.
Milwaukee had been victorious in 14 straight games, building an eight-game lead in the National League Central Division.
The game started as a pitchers’ duel with nobody scoring until the bottom of the seventh.
A two-run homer by William Contreras gave the Brewers a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning after the Reds had taken a 1-0 lead in the seventh inning, but Cincinnati scored single runs in the bottom of the ninth and the bottom of the 10th for a walk-off win.
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that it was a good effort despite the loss.
Murphy talked about the end of the win streak.
He was philosophical about it noting that you win some and you lose some.
He also noted that they’re going to have games where they have to try to win without a full supporting cast.
Milwaukee makes the short trip to Wrigley Field for a Monday doubleheader with Freddy Peralta and Chad Patrick scheduled to start.
The day game can be heard beginning at 12:45 on 1440 and 101.9 WNFL while the second game of the doubleheader will be on 1360 and WTAQ beginning at 6:30 p.m.
