(GREEN BAY ATHLETICS) OMAHA – Green Bay came up short against Omaha 6-3 Sunday (Aug. 17) on the road at Caniglia Field.
The loss dropped Green Bay’s record to 0-2-0 overall.
How it Happened
Omaha broke the scoreless tie when Lauren Schmidt scored in the third minute, assisted by Blanche Brethes Vacchiani and Kendall Dobberstein.
The Mavericks went up 2-0 on a goal from Presley Douglas in the 10th minute.
Green Bay got on the board to make it a 2-1 match on Laney Stark’s 18th-minute goal, her first of the young season. Ryann Hafenbrak assisted the goal.
The Phoenix tied the match at 2-2 with a 20th-minute goal from Senah Hanes, her second goal of the season, with this one coming off a penalty kick.
Omaha grabbed a 3-2 lead almost immediately following the Phoenix goal on Emma Hampton’s goal in the 21st minute, assisted by Grace Bartlam.
The Mavericks added another goal thanks to a 33rd-minute goal from Addie Larock, assisted by Lindsey Birch and then a 48th-minute goal from Payten Ivins, assisted by Schmidt.
The Phoenix narrowed the Mavericks’ advantage to 5-3 thanks to a 55th-minute goal from Hafenbrak, her first goal of the season.
The Mavericks’ final goal in the 58th minute made it 6-3 thanks.
