(UW ATHLETICS) MADISON, Wis. – The No. 23 Wisconsin women’s soccer team powered past the Milwaukee Panthers, 3-1, in its 2025 home opener.
How it Happened
First Half
The Badgers offense came out firing, racking up three corner kicks and three shots-on-goal in the first 15 minutes.
Although the score remained 0-0 at halftime, Wisconsin dominated the stat sheet, leading in shots (9-1), shots on goal (4-0), and corners (4-1).
Second Half
Wisconsin wasted no time after the break, earning two quick corners within the first two minutes.
The breakthrough came in the 51st minute when Ashley Martinez buried a penalty kick to put the Badgers ahead 1-0.
Just over 10 minutes later, Erin Connolly doubled the lead with a goal in the 62nd minute.
Milwaukee answered with their lone goal in the 68th, but the Badgers shut the door with a goal from Taylor Gordon in the 74th minute to seal the 3-1 win.
Wisconsin outpaced the Panthers in shots (24-2), shots on goal (10-1), and corners (7-2).
