WAUPACA (WTAQ-WLUK) — Tony Haase, the man accused of the 1992 murder of Tanna Togstad and Timothy Mumbrue has been found not guilty by a jury in Waupaca County.
The jury reached a verdict in Haase’s murder trial around 10:20 a.m. Monday.
This comes after deliberation began last Wednesday, with jurors reviewing evidence including the over three-hour video where Haase allegedly confessed to the murder.
Haase faced two counts of first-degree murder for the 1992 slayings of Tanna Togstad and Timothy Mumbrue.
Haase was charged in 2022 after confessing to the murders. Haase’s father was killed in a snowmobile crash in 1977, with Togstad’s father one of the drivers involved.
Togstad died of one stab wound to the chest, while Mumbrue was stabbed multiple times, according to the autopsy report cited in the criminal complaint. A dog was also killed.
