(WNFL) – The Xavier Hawks who are making their first appearance at the WIAA girls state soccer tournament in Milwaukee since 2014 advanced to Saturday’s title game with a 1-0 win over Lake Country Luthern in the Division 4 semifinal early Thursday evening.
Xavier will play Ozaukee/Random Lake which played Washburn to a 1-1 tie before advancing via the shootout 7-6.
Xavier which was outshot 13-6 by Lake Country Lutheran got its lone goal in the 61st minute when Ellie Reed put in a rebound off the crossbar on a shot by Kate Jannette.
Abigal Anderson had 3 saves for Xavier.
Rachel Malm had 3 saves for Lake Country Lutheran.
Division 1
Kimberly was unable to muster consistent offensive pressure in falling 3-0 to Muakego in the Division 1 semifinal.
Kimberly was outshot 14-4.
Muskego got its goals in the 16th and 26th minutes from Elsa Maurer and in the 65th minute from Jess Fernau.
Bee Brockert had 3 saves for Kimberly.
Savannah Mittelstaedt and Lauren Schindler had 2 and 1 save, respectively, for Muskego.
Kimberly finishes its season with a record of 17-4-2.
Muskego which is 20-0-2 will play Madison West for the Division 1 title on Saturday.
Madison West tied Arrowhead 3-3 and advanced to the title game by winning the shootout 6-5.
