DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Fire caused an estimated $40,000 in damage to a De Pere home Monday.
The fire department says crews were called to the 600 block of Foxview Drive around 12:30 p.m. Crews arrived to find moderate amounts of smoke on the house’s main level. The fire was in a basement storage room. It was quickly put out. Fire damage was contained to the the storage room, with smoke damage throughout the rest of the house.
Everyone got out of the house safely before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.
In its news release, the fire department included a reminder that extension cords should only be used as temporary wiring and should not be run under rugs, in walls or buried under leaves or mulch outside.
