(WNFL/LEARFIELD) – The Milwaukee Brewers completed a 3-game weekend sweep of the Cleveland Guardians with a 2-0 win at American Family Field in Milwaukee on Sunday.
Colin Rea earned the win to improve to 11-4. He pitched 7 standout innings, allowing just 2 hits and no runs while striking out 5.
Rea said it looks like his team is having fun out there.
And he talked about the success on Sunday.
Jared Koenig earned his first career save, pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning and talked about getting that save.
The Brewers who are idle Monday before opening a 3-game series in St. Louis on Tuesday are now 72-52.
But Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that his team can’t get cocky. There is still room for improvement on the field.
Bryce Turang led the Brewers with 2 hits including a triple and run scored.
Willy Adames put the Brewers ahead 1-0 in the first inning with single that scored Turang.
Eric Haase drove in the game’s second run for the Brewers with a groundout in the second that scored Sal Frelick.
The Brewers are now 1 game behind Philadelphia for the National League’s best record and 1/2 game behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for the league’s second-best record. The 2 teams with the best records get first-round byes in the National League playoffs.
