GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Stadium District Board will contribute nearly $3 million towards construction of a third locker room at Lambeau Field.
The locker room used by the Packers isn’t available for other teams, as players use the facility year-round. When the stadium hosts other events — such as the Manchester City-Bayern Munich soccer game in 2022, or the Wisconsin-LSU football game in 2016 — one of the teams has used a temporary locker room in what had been a gym. With recent renovations, that space now has other uses and isn’t available.
The project has a $5 million price tag. The team asked the Green Bay/Brown County Professional Football Stadium District to pitch in nearly $3 million from its capital improvements fund.
At a meeting in April, the board put off the team’s request. But at a meeting Monday, the contribution was approved.
The locker room will be in the southeast corner of the stadium, near Section 137.
The fund isn’t taxpayer money; it’s built up through user fees from game tickets and is saved for projects such as this. But the district board needs to approve spending the money.
Work has already started on the project. It’s expected to be completed before the Sept. 5, 2026 college football game between Wisconsin and Notre Dame.
